CON THE ARTIST Drops New BEST DAYS EP feat. Raw, Acoustic Single “Bad Guy”

by Leslie Sherman December 17, 2024 1:57 pm Tagged With: songwriter

Emerging singer-songwriter CON THE ARTIST unveils Best Days, a deeply personal EP capturing moments of heartbreak, healing, and transformation. Spanning alternative, indie, and alt-pop genres, the record is both explosive and introspective, blending dynamic production with raw, emotional storytelling.

The EP concludes with the focus track “Bad Guy,” an acoustic ballad that strips away excess to lay bare the pain and growth of a long-distance relationship marred by infidelity. Through its candid lyrics, “Bad Guy” becomes a time capsule of emotions and a turning point in CON’s journey of self-discovery.

This EP let me lay it all out there, showing every facet of what I love about music. It kicks off with an explosion of sound — distortion dialed up to eleven, vocals saturated and gritty, and drums that hit like a storm. From there, things slide effortlessly into hip-hop grooves and sampled guitar riffs, while the lyrics dig deep. The record ends with the most vulnerable I’ve ever been, revealing dark secrets from my past. – CON THE ARTIST

“Bad Guy” tells the true story of a relationship turned sour after a partner’s betrayal. Written in the aftermath of a long-distance romance, the song delves into feelings of bitterness, accountability, and eventual healing.

At the time, I was living in London with my band, focused on music and staying loyal. Meanwhile, she was going on dates back in Canada. I was devastated but stayed in the relationship longer than I should have. I hated who I became – angry, resentful, bitter. In the end, I saw myself as the bad guy. Writing this song was the moment I finally healed. I was stuck in bitterness and depression for two years after we broke up, but the day I wrote “Bad Guy” was the day I moved on. It’s a triumph, a release of my pain and acceptance of my own mistakes.
