by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 24, 2020 7:38 pm Tagged With: Florida, indie rock, Rock, rock n roll, United States

308 Ghost Train

308 Ghost Train is an original rock act from Cortez, Florida with a
sound based in the best of rock’s past and an uplifting and inspiring
message for the people of today. We call it “Message Oriented Rock
with a Classic Vibe”.

308 Ghost Train makes music for music fans of all ages who’ve become disenfranchised with current trends and long for music with more alignment to the mainstream rock genre, music with substance and memorable style. The first EP, “Born In The Wild”, started releasing singles on May 24th, 2019, featuring five songs. The new EP “Train Of Thought” will be releasing singles starting with “Bleed Over Me” which dropped in June (2020).

In this interview spotlight, I chat with 308 Ghost Train about the music, the challenges, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

308 GHOST TRAIN · BLEED OVER ME

You’re from Cortez, FL and record hard rock music.  Are the two related in some way?  Has your locale influenced the type of music you make?

No not at all and the influences come from a broad spectrum of artists and songwriters Cortez is actually a world famous fishing village.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

The way music and writing songs makes me feel and when I create its kinda like falling in love over and over again that’s what lead me and keeps me motivated.

How is “Bleed Over Me” different than previous releases? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

I write a lot songs while I sleep but this song was written fully awake I believe I went from looking for love to actually finding love for the first time in my life. I always say the song was written “All because a guy fell for a girl”

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this over saturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

Trying to get out of the crab bucket and get in front of the masses is challenging We’ve been fortunate to do it with over 30 million plays in less than 3 months but the work now has only begun sustaining is the next challenge.

What was the last song you listened to?

Bleed Over Me

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

MP3’s they are just easier to access.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

We prefer SOUNDCLOUD we feel like you should be able to test drive music before you buy it and this is a great platform to do that on!

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?
