A Brand New Nashville Sound

by Featured Guest September 23, 2014 9:55 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, Nashville, rap, Tennessee, United States

Dream Catcher Album Cover

Artist Name – Nate DizZy
Real Name – David Nathaniel Jollay
Hometown – Knoxville, TN
Currently Located in Nashville, TN
Latest Album Released – 08/01/2014
(Dream Catcher) – Now available on iTunes

As you began to listen to DizZy’s music, it will not take long to realize that it doesn’t sound like Nashville.. Think about it, if Nashville had a sound, which many say it does, then wouldn’t it be a country sound? Matter of opinion I reckon, however, Nate DizZy is as far from country as country is as far from the city.. (That makes sense doesn’t it?)  If you were to simplify him into a genre then it would be considered Hip-Hop but don’t get it twisted, you won’t be hearing no money, bitches (excuse my language) and drugs coming through the speakers, though the instrumental production might naturally make a certain percentage of people here on earth automatically assume that thanks to the stereo typical world we live in. Ive literally had a review from a listener that said quote “It actually isn’t that bad of a song for Rap music, need to do away with all the cuss words though.” The funny thing about it was that DizZy didn’t cuss in that song, he doesn’t use foul language in any of his music at that. All I’m saying is that in my opinion that would be considered Rap, not a lot of meaning (Soul Purpose = Hope to hell its catchy) I like to think Hip-Hop has more of a cultural base to it. I will post a link to an article I found that, to me at least, explains it very well. http://www.ebony.com/entertainment-culture/the-difference-between-rap-hip-hop-798#axzz3E9KStxeD.

Nate DizZy and his brand IME (ILLUMINATED MINDS ENT.) is driven by passion and excellence. They want to express their passion for art through excellence in music and media. Art shapes society. Their aim is to influence our surrounding culture with the art they create and share. The sounds and emotions captured in music, influence the way its listeners think, speak, and act. Lyrics are seeds that get planted in hearts, if hope is sown what will the harvest produce?

“If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him.”                                                                    –  John F. Kennedy

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
