NYC based singer/songwriter Abby Ahmad recently released her single Because. Today, I want to share with you the music video for that release!

For this single, Abby and her husband hauled all their equipment from Brooklyn to Pennsylvania for a house- and dog-sitting adventure. They set up their studio in Abby’s childhood bedroom and began to capture the essence of the 1980’s sound that Abby became so familiar with during her younger years.

There is great catharsis in recording songs about your present while surrounded by your past.” Ahmad explains, “We began revisiting the era, immersing ourselves in the 80s records and music videos we grew up with and dove deep into the production aspects of artists like Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Cyndi Lauper, and The Eurythmics.”

Because is the lead single from Abby’s forthcoming album, set for release in 2019. It was produced and recorded by Ahmad and her musical partner/husband Mark Marshall. With that in mind, Because is thematically founded in the dynamic of the duo’s multi-faceted personal and professional relationship.

With a mellow and slightly haunting yet still soothing sonic foundation, Because reminds us to stay focused on the present. As Abby’s powerful voice intensifies, the lyrics continue to focus on endurance when it comes to artistic endeavors. Stay focused on the present while finding balance between future desires and past outcomes.

A difficult balance to maintain but I could not agree more!
