Alan Barnosky Carries Old Freight With Beautiful, Bluegrass Infused, Infectious Soundscapes – I Love This Album

Alan Barnosky-Old Freight

North Carolina based singer/songwriter, guitarist and beautiful bluegrass creating aficionado Alan Barnosky has delivered an album that I absolutely love. I can’t get enough of the enchanting soundscapes which paint vivid mental images of rolling hills, backyard bonfire throw downs with entertainment provided by top notch pickers, and the comforting feelings that go along with an authentic, awe inspiring, bluegrass listening experience.

Creating music that acts as tribute, admiration and respect to the American roots musical traditions; bluegrass, folk and country blues seamlessly blend into a tapestry of flatpicking melodies, rolling rhythms, instantly gratifying musicanship, and infectious frequencies which soothe the soul and leave us longing for simpler times where our Old Freight doesn’t seem to weigh that much.

Old Freight is the name of Alan’s new album and if you love American roots music, you need this record in your collection. It was released in November 2017 and happens to be Barnosky’s full-length solo debut. One hell of a debut!!

Raw, honest, authentic music. This is what you will find on Old Freight.

From the opening Bowling Green to the finale, Gypsy Sally’s, we are treated with a familiar yet utterly refreshing collection of high grade American roots music. Barnosky’s voice backed by the excellent musicality of his songwriting results in a genuine and highly enjoyable listening experience you will want to repeat…multiple times.

From Alan’s bio,

Barnosky emerged as a songwriter amid Washington, DC’s thriving folk and bluegrass music scene. His rhythmic flatpicked guitar and honest songs have drawn comparisons to Norman Blake, Doc Watson, and Townes Van Zandt. He has performed at Merlefest, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Bluegrass Ramble. He lives in Durham, NC where he also performs with bluegrass 5-piece Counterclockwise String Band and the acoustic trio Fabius Page.”

Old Freight is available on Spotify.
