Interview with Alexander Grandjean – Seventies Remix Now Available

Alexander Grandjean-Seventies-Sidelmann Remix

Alexander Grandjean and his single “Seventies” was recently featured in one of our indie music spotlights. Today the Sidelmann Remix of Seventies is now available!

I have included the music video for the original mix of Seventies. Scroll down a little further for the Sidelmann remix.

Sidelmann is a Billboard Top 100 producer who has also produced for and remixed artists like Leona Lewis, Shakira, Avicii, Flo Rida, and Shaggy.

Thanks to Alexander for taking time out of his schedule to chat with us.

We’ve featured you before but let’s dive a little deeper into the artist and the music. What attracted you to this genre or style of music?

I’ve always loved acoustic music, and even when I’ve done electronic tracks and beats, I’ve always tried to add edge and soul to make the sound more rich and interesting. I like depth.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

This is my first single, so two months of sharing, but fifteen years of creating 🙂

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

I’ve always been very influenced by hip hop, reggae and world music. I love the melodies in reggae, and world music has been a way for me to dream of warm, exotic places in the long Scandinavian winter nights where I grew up as a kid. I’m motivated by the though that if I don’t sit down and write today, that song will never be born; and who knows what that song could do for someone out there one day.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

I’ve always been writing and producing for other artists, and I thought it’d be interesting to explore what songs would come out if I did everything myself. It’s a way to get to know myself more, I guess. I’m a very curious person, and I just had to find out what I would find if I went down this road.

What was the last song you listened to?

“Excitable Boy” by Warren Zevon

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

Vinyl for dust and sex, CDs for teenage memories, and MP3s for travels.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Spotify because they got me first. Love their playlists. Plus it’s Swedish and I like my neighbors.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

Tempo. People are in a hurry so the music has to be easily digestible. That doesn’t necessarily go well with art, and I think it’s a problem in general that we’ve speeded up our lives too much. There’s no rush really.

Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you perform?

This is my first single, so I’m not performing live yet – probably will one day. I enjoy taking one day at the time 🙂

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat – and of course on the streaming sites.

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

Be kind and enjoy every sandwich <3

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
