Alien Country Delivers Vintage Country Rock With An Infusion of Sci-Fi, Like My Life Depends On It Now Available

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 27, 2018 7:44 pm Tagged With: Country, country rock, Florida, singer, songwriter, southern rock, United States

Alien Country-Like My Life Depends On It

Combining his love of country music with his passion for sci-fi, Florida based singer/songwriter Liam Marcus Torres delivers vintage sounds, as Alien Country, with extra terrestrial spices on his newest album Like My Life Depends On It.

Forming the project in 2013, Liam first began his musical journey on piano around the age of eight. By thirteen he was learning electric guitar. Influenced by guitar icons such as Van Halen, Malmsteen, Chet Atkins and Randy Rhoads, Liam’s style has a strong foundation in country but with a potent and pleasing dose of rock. Elements of country, southern rock, blues and jazz guitar combine for a very distinct listening experience.

As a father of six who home-schools his children, Liam has this to say about his approach to songwriting,

When you combine country music with how much I like sci-fi, well, the name Alien Country just fits like your favorite pair of jeans,” he says. “I want my fans to have fun. Even if they’re having a bad day, I hope to put a smile on their faces and get ’em tappin’ their toes.”

Incorporating instruments such as ukulele and Theremin into his country bedrock, it’s safe to say that Alien Country is not afraid to push creative limits beyond that of traditional country music. With an exploratory, fun-filled attitude fueling his creative process, each track on Like My Life Depends On It delivers intricate musicianship, textured layers of sonic nuance and foot-stompin’ rhythms that roll across the alien soundscape like a vintage farm truck kickin’ up space dust as it dodges craters, music loud, without a care.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
