Angelo M’s “From Steel to Strings” is Hot!

by C Bret Campbell March 16, 2012 3:33 am Tagged With: Acoustic, Americana, Blues, Folk, Roots

For a while, now I’ve been rockin’ the latest release from Angelo M (Melasecca), “From Steel to Strings,” (C.D.M.N. Records). , flowing and burning images into your mind, this hot record is a triumph in the roots, blues, and americana categorys.

His mind and mission steeled in the mills of Pennsylvania, and his talent forged over decades of dedicated study, practice and performance, Angelo M has exploded on the Americana scene. Laid back like Croce or Taylor, down in the blues with Sumlin and Clapton, and tickling the strings a’la Bruce Cockburn, Angelo’s style is colorful, to say the least. This hot new record opens up with a great slide blues tune, This Train, and the embers left at the end bloom into a couple introspective numbers, before moving on to Any Time – a groovy little love song.

A little bit of Prine and Goodman come out to play (not literally) in Stop Blamin’ Me and Thirty Years. From cracking jokes and making light to getting serious and deep, Angelo M’s songwriting is top notch. And his musicianship? Ah, well, if fingers normally had wings, I might understand, but they don’t and, well… wow! He plays slow and sweet, digs in and makes a guitar hurt, and dances with the fleetness of a hummingbird on songs like Running Late
Angelo M.’s music is featured in the PBS Television series, Road Trip Nation. And has garnered songwriting honors in the prestigious “Mountain Stage” NewSong, Billboard’s World Song Contest and the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. Armed with a six string, a dobro, mandolin & harp, he’s  an authentic link in the roots-Americana genre as a singer, player and songwriter. whether it’s his intricate finger style on the acoustic guitar, searing slide work on his dobro, or the high and lonesome strains of his mandolin, the listener will immediately identify with this gifted artist who is just beginning to hit his stride.
