Aoede – muse for Dodge’s new Dart?

by C Bret Campbell July 23, 2012 7:13 pm Tagged With: Pop

I first came across Aoede on ReverbNation a while back. She had a voice that really intrigued me, whether singing light-hearted love ditties or darker sounds like on her “I Lost You Win,” she has a unique phrasing and sense of pitch that makes her stand out like a magnolia in a field of mesquite.

Dodge, Facebook, and Indie Music

Detroit auto maker Dodge has really made a splash, lately, by bringing back such classic autos as the Charger. Up next is a bit of a surprise – the Dodge Dart is making it’s way to market. The makers have paid close attention to taste and have hit on something cool; they are running a contest on Facebook to offer a sweet deal to one independent musician.

The musician whose song is most downloaded will be given the opportunity to write a new “theme song” for the Dart.  This is where Aoede (pronounced A-E-D) comes in. If the order of the songs on the contest download page is any indication, she’s currently at the top of the running!

You can cast your vote(s) and download some great free music, by clicking this sentence.

Middle Tennessee Music are proud to support Aeode in her efforts. Her music is real, genuine, fun, heartfelt, spooky, light, heavy, … did I mention real? She’s also one of those rare artists who “get it” when using social media. My group became a “fan” of Aoede on Reverb, and she quickly sent a personal note of thanks, with a link to her Twitter profile. A quick look at some of her hilarious tweets gave me a good excuse to follow her. Over the past couple years, we have developed quite the on-line friendship, made a lot of good mutual friends, helped each other out here and there, and we’ve even shared space on the same charity album. Like I say she’s been a good friend to a lot of people, so when she sent me this news, I just had to share.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
