Asterisk from Joy of Painting may be one of my favorite EP’s of this young summer. Joy of Painting is self-described as a two car garage pop quintet out of Nashville, TN and if Asterisk is any indication there is a long stream of great music coming our way from these guys.

Starting with “Old Love” all the way to “From the News” its obvious Joy of Painting knows how to write a song. Asterisk delivers a vintage sound with modern appeal. If this isn’t a part of your barbecue or party playlist it should be.

Asterisk has a broad sound that you could compare to many artists. Much of the album could be likened to The Killers, The Clash or even Weezer. When I hear The Bird and From the News I hear Band of Horses. Joy of Painting’s Asterisk is definitely a must listen.
