Falling Water’s “The Slow Down” is a great “Release”

by C Bret Campbell October 13, 2011 7:55 am Tagged With: Americana, Rock, Soul

Escape or Release… Classic Led by Mark Rechler ( formerly of Circus Mind and Outhouse), Falling Water’s debut record “The Slow Down” is a Release in a league all it’s own. Rechler’s soulful, somewhat scratchy vocals ride on a bed of atmospheric pianos, keys, and beautiful, aching guitar tones to deliver his songs straight to […]

The Lonestar State’s Joel Warren is back in the saddle and on a mission to fight Domestic Violence. His new record, “Straight Up Country” is out and, like the debut album, is climbing charts all over the U.S. Country scene. Included on the record is an all new recording of the powerful song, “God Fearin’ […]

Brian Mackey – Florida to New York to Tennessee

by C Bret Campbell September 23, 2011 11:58 pm Tagged With: Acoustic, Americana, Nashville, United States

We get a lot of invitations to review new artists here at Mid-Tenn, and it is unfortunate that we can’t get to all of them – though we do try. I surely am glad I did not let this one slip through the cracks. I got an invitation from Brian Mackey the other day, and […]

Local Spotlight – The Goldroom

by C Bret Campbell September 7, 2011 4:18 am Tagged With: Alternative, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Rock, United States

Encapsulated in Gold I received an invitation from the fellas in The Goldroom to check out their new record, “The Surrounding Hours” a couple days ago. It’s pretty much been playing since then! “Car With Crystal Brakes” really has my attention at the moment. Something about it reminds me of The Cars, but it’s nothing […]

The GoldRoom – Blissful Dissonance

by C Bret Campbell July 24, 2011 5:00 pm Tagged With: Alternative, Experimental, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Rock, United States

Out of Chaos comes Order In 1999 in the burgeoning town smack-dab in the center of Tennessee, known as Murfreesboro, a group of friends came together to release their feelings and dreams via the muse. Over the next few years, they grew closer together even though a few went their separate ways for a while. […]

T for Texas, T for…. I’ve been following the blossoming career of my friend Mary Sarah for  about 6 months now. This young lady is an amazing talent from the great state of Texas who is making big waves in modern country music! While we were bantering on Twitter today, she told me she will […]

Catching up to Bonnaroo Sunday

by C Bret Campbell June 17, 2011 2:34 am Tagged With: Bonnaroo

A Quick Nap and All Day Jam! Well, we jammed at the camp until sunrise, slept till about 9, grabbed some breakfast and a basic hygene break, had another little jam session, and set out to catch some cool tunes and food for the day. Oh, what a day! Mavis Staples, G Love and Special […]

Bonnaroo – Saturday – post Recovery

by C Bret Campbell June 16, 2011 10:10 pm Tagged With: Bonnaroo

Catching up Well, let’s see…where was I when I left off? Oh, yeah, I was about to post Saturday’s Breakfast (it never materialized) when all the batteries, computers, and dumb phones freaked right out.  After many prolonged battles with chargers and magnetic fields, I gave up and decided to write about the weekend later – […]

Friday afternoon Bonnaroo Report

by C Bret Campbell June 11, 2011 2:38 pm Tagged With: Bonnaroo

Hot weather, Hotter Music! Well, it’s warm, but it’s been hotter! No 110 deg. temps this year, the day topped out at about 95 and it’s down to around 80, now. But, judging by the crowd’s reaction to the music, you would think it was 350! Top Notch Bela fleck, Warren Haynes (hizell yeah!) Primus! […]

Bonnaroo Friday Night

by C Bret Campbell June 11, 2011 3:22 am Tagged With: Bonnaroo

Tennesee is Rockin’!   Yes, I chose the headline color for a friend I’m camping with. If you have been following, you already know that I started the evening with My Morning Jacket . I hung around for Arcade Fire who are always fantastic. Both shows were great and I met a bunch of cool […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
