Ben Delaurentis Delivers Emotive, Folk Rock-Infused Storytelling On New Album, Liar For A Muse

Ben Delaurentis-Liar For A Muse

Liar For A Muse might not be the first project by Lynchburg, Virginia based singer/songwriter Ben Laurentis, but it is his first album where he wrote, recorded, engineered and prepared everything for release by himself!

In Ben’s words,

I’ve produced and released 3 full length records with a band and this is my first solo album. I played almost every instrument on the album and did all of the mixing in a modest home studio. Spent countless hours on it and it is very personal to me. It was my first time undertaking everything alone.”

Founder of Virginia band Steal The Prize, Ben began his journey down the musical path during his early teenage years. Since then he has vigorously immersed himself in music creation, songwriting and live performances.

Liar For A Muse is packed with ten well-crafted songs which walk the genre lines between folk, Americana and indie rock. Ben’s ability to captivate listeners with simple yet nuanced and soothing soundscapes is undeniable. His raw, organic storytelling approach to lyricism guarantees that each song will engage the listener much like a good book on a relaxing evening.

As far as choosing a favorite? Good luck… each of these 10 songs is a labor of love and a display of the dedication Ben pours into every element of every song. I can imagine a creative mastermind in his “modest home studio” working tirelessly to make sure each transition, each progression and each story is of the highest quality possible.

One of my favorite lyrics on this album comes from the song, One Woman Man and goes like this, “..I was a monster when you met me, I’ll be a monster till I die. If I lie it’s cause I love you…”. Deep and powerful stuff! Definitely resonates with me!

If you enjoy music from more established acts like David Ramirez, Delta Spirit, Jason Isbell, Dr. Dog,  or Ed Sheeran, then Liar For A Muse is a must-add to your music collection.

You can find Liar For A Muse on Soundcloud or Bandcamp.
