Blind Lemon Pledge Returns With A Folk and Americana Infused Opus, Backwoods Glance

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 8, 2017 2:17 pm Tagged With: Americana, Folk, Roots, singer, songwriter

Blind Lemon Pledge-Backwoods Glance

Blind Lemon Pledge is back again with an excellent collection of songs on his newest album Backwoods Glance.

Blind Lemon Pledge always has a home on the pages of our site. See our previous features here, here, here, here, and here.

Unlike his previous blues-infused outings, Backwoods Glance presents a modern, refreshing take on the classic styles of Americana and American Folk.

One of the many reasons Blind Lemon Pledge is a favorite of mine is his ability to fully immerse himself in a particular style and create an entire album of engaging songs in a wide range of Roots music and its variants.

Stories about women standing against the coal companies to protect their men (Sisters of the Coal Dust), moons rising and setting over a Memphian landscape (Moon Over The Memphis), surviving on the streets of Fayetteville, or professing admiration for sweeter-than-the-sugar-cane Celine (Sweet Celine) all unfold as we take a Backwoods Glance at the simple life with Blind Lemon Pledge and his band of top shelf talent leading the way.

Beautiful guitar tones, foot stompin’ rhythms, memorable melodies, sweet harmonicas, comforting fiddle, poignant piano, compelling stories and more musical goodness blend together throughout these twelve tracks of awesome Americana resulting in a record that has to be added to your music collection.

You’ll come back to this one time and time again.

For a more in-depth conversation about the album, the songs, the people involved and much more, be sure to check out our exclusive interview with the masterful song crafter.

Listen to Backwoods Glance on Soundcloud or YouTube. It is also available on Apple Music and Spotify.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
