BLK CNN: Classic Era Hip Hop For The New Age

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 5, 2012 12:56 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, rap

Born Ruler On The Wheels Of Steel

BLK CNN is what hip hop sounded like when I was coming up and the game needs this back.

Bruce Wayne on the beats. Born Ruler on the mic. Together they form the powerhouse duo known as BLK CNN.

In case you’ve been sleeping, we recently published an interview with these gentlemen.

As far as hip hop goes, I consider myself old school. But something was going on with the vibes of grimey East Coast in the ’90s that rode with my soul frequency.

BLK CNN are taking me back to that place.

KRS-One, early Nas (circa Illmatic), Mobb Deep, Capone ‘n’ Noreaga, Big Pun, Canibus… I’m coming down with a serious case of nostalgia here people.

Young rappers need to study this like a textbook. Born Ruler’s lyrics are no joke. Knowledge is being spread.

Coming of age in a time when Hip Hop was showing and proving its power to dominate the world. Born kept his fingers dusty digging in crates as early as age seven. As a child and young teen he experienced various musical talents, while traveling up and down the East coast.

Bruce Wayne needs to throw me a beat. That’s all I’m saying.

Bruce took to music at an early age being inspired by his peers who were into spinning records in the community at block parties and different house parties in the neighborhood. He explains “I went to a friend’s house in my building and saw the DJ set and I was instantly drawn to it.

If you down with some mad knowledge droppin’, head bangin’, neck breakin’ raw hip hop, BLK CNN will put that juice in your veins.

BLK CNN embraces a classic era of Hip Hop while keeping the frequencies current. I want to smack every lame, wack rapper I meet with a copy of their CD.

Born Ruler resides in Richmond, VA and you can catch him every Friday on WDCE Richmond University Radio from 9 to 11 PM.

Bruce Wayne chills in his bat cave in Cordova,TN. He told me how he ended up there in our interview.
