Blood Dancer Tell This Planet’s Brutal History – Classic Metal Style

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman January 8, 2013 11:53 am Tagged With: Metal

Blood Dancer

Blood Dancer is an epic novel exploring the brutal history of human existence…in the form of in-your-face, raging classic metal.

We recently interviewed the band and here is what they said about their influences:

I’m influenced by the bands from the “New Wave of British Heavy Metal” like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead. I love the rhythmic structuring and blistering melodies from that period. Of course the fathers of metal: Sabbath, Zeppelin and Deep Purple. Neil Young and Bob Dylan have always been huge favorites of mine in terms of storytelling and style.

The founders of thrash: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer. Death metal bands like At the Gates, In Flames and Opeth. Black metal bands like Immortal and Dissection. My list of influences is bigger than I originally thought… read the interview for more.

So what’s the conclusion?

Blood Dancer delivers. From Track 1 until Track 9, your eardrums will be ringing to the raging shred grooves of this classic thrash metal adventure.

There is a lot of depth to the songwriting and compositions, which we discussed in the interview. Their songs are stories inspired by an eclectic source of influences including literature, poetry, medieval times, and historic figures.

Each song is a chapter in this first novel. I assure you Blood Dancer will be back with book two soon.

Until then, you can find the band actively playing in the San Diego area. Visit their website or connect on Facebook.
