Broken Quote Battling through life’s adversities and enduring through chronic pain, Broken Quote and his new Foreshadowing Sunlight EP embody the following quote from Napoleon Hill:

“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”

Houston, Texas born and raised, Broken Quote is a multi-instrumentalist and producer that has been infected with the music bug since he was a child.

“Music opened up a part of me I didn’t even know was there. It taught me lessons, comforted me,scared me, challenged me and brought focus to my life, helping me grow as a person.Writing music is how I process my experience.”

Learning to play music by ear is quite the feat in and of itself but the physical requirements of being a musician can be complicated when you live daily with chronic pain. This factor has not slowed down Broken Quote; who managed to learn and still plays a wide range of instruments including guitar, synthesizers, piano, and steel drum. His experience working with samplers gives his creative flow some extra oomph.

Foreshadowing Sunlight is an aural attack on the senses that seamlessly weaves in and out of electronic rock, jazz, ambient, and trip hop. In the words of Broken Quote…

“It sounds like colors ricocheting off a smell.”

If you can imagine RJD2, DJ Shadow, and Beck joining forces to create an ambient trip hop album, then you will find Foreshadowing Sunlight an intriguing and enjoyable listening experience. Broken Quote’s wide range of influences from life and music have contributed to a fresh aural experience I find refreshing.

Prepare for experimentation, discovery, and introspection.
