Local Spotlight – Chris Carpenter

Chris Carpenter

Chris Carpenter is looking to be the next big thing with his third album the Next Right Thing. The Kentucky native and Nashville transplant  is mixing country with a soulful pop sound to deliver his take on love and life.

Next Right Thing starts out with the up tempo ‘What Love Is’ and lets the listener know he doesn’t care if you belong to another; he wants you for his own. The album includes a great mix of up tempo tracks and slow rockers like ‘Everybody’ and ‘Santa Monica’.

Chris finishes strong with what may be my favorite track, ‘On and On’; a track on which he clearly displays his vocal abilities.

Although Next Right Thing has a country feel, songs like ‘Tidal Wave’ and excerpts from others like ‘Santa Monica’ have a 90’s rock feel. Gin Blossoms and Weezer anyone?

On the other hand, songs like ‘Everybody’ bring me back to bands like the Eagles and singers like Don Henley.

Next Right Thing is clearly the next big step for Chris Carpenter and his blossoming career.

Favorite track: On and On
Who I would Pandora with: Keith Urban, Don Henley

July 9th, 10th, & 12th – Chris Carpenter and Jefferson Grizzard will be traveling to California for shows at Hard Rock in San Diego (July 9th) as well as Molly Malone’s (July 10th) and The Hotel Cafe (July 12th) in Los Angeles. Visit www.chriscarpentermusic.com for more information.
