Come of Age – Red Flag Act

by C Bret Campbell August 24, 2016 12:38 pm

Got some cool tunage from Denmark! Red Flag Act rock y’all!

C-J and I met about 16 years ago. It was the classic answer a musician ad on-line situation.  I turned up at the audition in a dindgy Edinburgh rehearsal room were there was one guitarist, one drummer…we jammed for a bit but started nothing. Over the years, we’ve kept in contact however. Both living full-time creative lives, up until my demise in 2011 when I went back to working for the man! From C-J’s time as a session musician in London to mine as a club singer, we put the time in, lets say!

red flag actAfter a period of few years out of contact, the world of facebook brought us together. Up popped a friend request from C-J. We chatted and caught up and talked immediately about doing something together. That was September 2015. Flights were checked, as C-J was now working out of Copenhagen with his own studio set-up there. Dates arranged and the musical journey started. We had no idea whether what we were about to do would work. We might not click.

The interesting fact about these songs is that they were written very quickly, the length of stay almost setting the pace at which we needed to work – that being a week-end! This collection of song hasn’t been crafted over a year and I kinda like that. It was all about the creation at the time, in the moment. We did get a bit too drunk one night, so probably could of produced a 7-track e.p. but I blame that on C-J
