David Vaters-A Voice In The Wilderness

David Vaters is a masterful song crafter with an impressive history including work with musicians and producers Henri Spinetti (Eric Clapton, Tina Turner), Dave Markee (Eric Clapton) Skip Procop (Lighthouse) and Norman Barrett (Paul Young. Larry Norman, Cliff Richard) and Dan Cutrona.(Joe Cocker, Bee Gees). He has also worked with well known Canadian musicians Gene LaTour, Seppo Salmenin, Greg Atkinson and Kai Siltamaki.

David’s newest release, A Voice In The Wilderness Volume 1, is a collection of intimate, honest songs which act as pleas, prayers and poems. These compositions serve as the foundation for which David shares potent, relatable stories each of us understand all too well.

David’s ability to capture the rawness of life, tap into our innate sense of self-reflection, and wrap it all up in the context of God’s glory is a feat not easily achieved but one David accomplishes with ease.

A Voice In The Wilderness falls nicely into the realm of soulful folk-rockin’ alt-country Christian Americana.

Wondering how David so effortlessly achieved such a great sound with amazing musicianship on each song? It’s due to the amazing roster of talented creatives who contributed to the album including: guitars and mandolin by Tom Hemby (Vince Gill, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins), drums and percussion by John Hammond (Amy Grant, Vince Gill) and Brian Fullen (Peter Frampton), bass by Jeff Cox (Trisha Yearwood), keyboards by David Vest (Bob Carlisle) and Johnathan Brown, harmonica by Charles Owens, accordion by Michael Whittaker, background vocals from Susie Vaters and K.J. Raney, and (of course) David handled acoustic guitar and vocals. Co-producing the album along with Vaters was Dave Vest.

David’s raw honesty, soulful performances and storytelling ability collide for an album of thoughtful, introspective, and very refreshing music. If I had to choose a favorite track, I would have to go with This Cross. David unleashes some serious soul on this one which is guaranteed to resonate more than just your aural sense. However, every single song on this record stands alone as a solid single.

A Voice In The Wilderness Volume 1 is now available from Bandcamp, TIDAL or Spotify. You can order CDs from David’s store.
