Connecticut based alternative rockers DB.Kinney have delivered an enjoyable, feel-good, catchy new single, Killing Time, off their latest album Blind Side Mirror.

I’m reminded of the days when REM was on MTV and the radio; the glory of days of alternative rock if you will. With hints of other popular acts like Replacements or even the Cure, it’s hard to pinpoint DB.Kinney’s exact influences but I guarantee you this music makes me feel good. A little nostalgic but in all the best ways.

When was I first introduced to the band, I honestly thought it was a solo singer/songwriter act. However, this talented trio consists of DB on guitar and vocals, Brandon Novak on drums, and Hish on bass. All veterans of the New England music scene, this group of talented players and songwriters have a musical chemistry that works very well.

Killing Time is a melodically rich, radio friendly, quite infectious and catchy acoustic-driven alt-rockin’ jam that goes down smooth butter and sounds as sweet as molasses. I’ve listened to this song enough times to lose count and something about it just keeps growing on me.

Memories of times past keep playing in my head. The days of sitting in 7th grade social studies, downtime spent in the KUC at MTSU watching music videos in between classes, all the faces I haven’t seen in a long time… I’m not sure what it is but something about Killing Time is causing my mind to fly through time, at least my time here on this planet, as memories flash by me and the emotions associated with those feelings well up inside of me.
