Dreamer of the Day, Frank Palangi says I Am Ready!

by Tisha Emberton July 23, 2012 11:29 am Tagged With: Rock

Frank PalangiSome of us are born with creative licenses. We know from the very beginning we were made to change the world whether it be through music, art or with words. Dreamers often wonder what it’s like to touch the stars while others are making efforts to climb mountains to reach them.

“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.” – T.E. Lawrence of Arabia

Frank Palangi is one of the dreamers of the day, who knew from the very beginning he was made to create music and inspire those around him. Frank states,
“I have no plan B in backing down on my dreams.”

He was inspired at an early age  after watching Brandon Lee perform a guitar solo in Action film, The Crow. It was then, his parents bought him a black electric Jackson guitar. “I’ve owned 16-20 guitars through the last 11 years.” Frank adds.

While at a Creed concert, he met Brandon Oropallo, who later became guitarist for Frank’s band. Through Brandon, he also connected with other band mates, drummer Josh Opitz and bass player Salvatore Leggieri. He grew up in upstate New York with no thoughts of surrendering his dreams of constantly creating music. Frank took control of his dreams and cast them into the daylight to flourish, handling his own musical affairs whether it be booking his own shows, representation, promoting and the works.

In 2010, Frank Palangi met Grammy nominated Day of Fire lead vocalist, Josh Brown after their concert in New York. Frank handed Josh his CD. Day of Fire singer gave Frank’s CD a listen after leaving New York. Frank was contacted by Day of Fire producer, Rogers Masson to come to Nashville, TN at Sound Stage Studios on Music Row to record his EP.

Frank expressed, “It was really cool working with them because Day of Fire is one of my influences in Christian Rock music. I couldn’t believe I met them. Then, that leading to flying to Nashville and getting thrown into the whole experience.” This was Frank’s first time flying as he took that much awaited flight from New York to Tennessee.

Frank stayed at the Best Western next to BMI, who handles his recording rights. He thought Nashville was a cool city with bars being so close, their sounds meshed together musically giving the city some life. “Music Row rocks with just all studios and music businesses.” Frank states.

Palangi was excited to finally be in the studio with Producer Rogers Masson. He also had lyric sessions with Day of Fire lead vocalist, Josh Brown. It took a week to record the first three songs, and another week for two more tracks, Driving These Lines and Love. Frank adds,“I wrote I’m Waiting back in 2008 and revamped for the EP.

The track lyrically has a good message to hoping and praying that someone you care about moves in the right direction in their life.”  I’m Waiting is Frank’s favorite track since it was inspired musically by John Carpenter’s Halloween. “The riff in the verse, is similar and loved the idea.”

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
