A breathtakingly entertaining hybrid of The Specials, NOFX, Ween and The Streets, Eat The Evidence are led by brothers Jack and Tom Lattimer, skilled musicians whose deceptively dextrous playing demands equivalent levels of expertise from fellow band members Ric Lygo, Joe Bartlett and Michael Saminaden. With an earthy, animated and uninhibited stage presence, the band’s live shows are swiftly becoming London legend, riotous gigs of carnivalesque proportions with not a little audience interaction. Exploding onto the ska-punk and festival circuits in 2014, Eat The Evidence are always the punkest band on a reggae bill, or the reggae’est band on a punk night. Either way, they will always own the room.

In this interview spotlight, we chat with Eat The Evidence about influences, their latest project and more.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create?

We ‘re from London. We sound like the best band on a terrible bill at an awful squat party/reggae

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?

We grew up on ska punk and then got into weirder kinds of music like Ween and They Might Be Giants.

To be honest we play music because we love playing live.

How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?

Our previous recordings were made in our bedrooms. Since then we have grown a small but faithful following and gave the pledge this a go. We managed to raise the money we needed to make a proper album. This is our first official release.

Do you face challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? How has technology helped you (assuming it helps)?

It took up two laptops to answers this questionnaire. It took up two minutes to tape a slide whistle to a ukulele. So we’d say the digital age hasn’t helped up.
