Falling Water makes a Splash

by C Bret Campbell December 16, 2011 4:05 pm Tagged With: Soul

You know my thoughts if you read my review, here it is in the words of some others.

Mark Rechler’s Falling Water Project Flows onto Playlists Around the Globe

While smiles and excitement are abundant as the holidays approach, many often have strong feelings of depression and a fear of being alone during the cheerful season.  Mark Rechler’s Falling Water project examines those emotions and while it may not offer words of encouragement, it does, however, remind listeners that you are not alone this season.

This passionate project has been finding a home on playlists around the globe and programmers are refreshed by the new sound.

“Crutch is as good as it gets.  If rock was current, this is what it would sound like — powerful, moody, lyrical, smart, rock felt, heart!” says Douglas Newsom, cofounder and CEO of BBS Radio Networks.“I used to play piano and it makes me want to play piano again!  It is a great album for study, for relaxing, for thinking…well, for everything!” says Gérard Connolly Envoyer at CKUM FM in Canada.

These songs of barren loneliness, loss and addictions were a collection of tracks that didn’t fit Mark Rechler’s more commercial projects.  He had spent 10 years writing and fronting the funk-rock bar band Circus Minds and playing with members of the Neville Brothers and Bob Marley’s band.  During this period, he accumulated a litany of tracks that perused through topics and sounds that were too dark to be a part of that group.  Those served as the platform for this EP examining Mark’s perspective on death, addiction and other unfortunate aspects of life.
