For You by Azrock & Pogo

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 14, 2014 10:01 am Tagged With: Electronic, Funk, Rock

For You by Azrock and Pogo Azrock & Pogo currently hold the award for most creative duo to ever come across my desk…at least for now. Make sure to check out our interview or see what the Mid Tenn Listens Live panel had to say.

Their new album, For You, is an epic journey through musical frequencies guaranteed to move you in a number of directions.

The brainchild of an anonymous individual known as theArchitect, Azrock & Pogo was inspired by the daily commute to a mind-numbing, non-creative job. As a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, fiction writer, graphic artist, and web programmer; this unknown individual is a creative force to be reckoned with.

Azrock is an eccentric hermit musician who disappears into an abandoned underground train station to indulge himself in urges to create soundscapes that do not fit neatly into any genre-box.

For You is a feast of hard rockin’ trip-soul-hoppin’ electroni-funk-n-bass-step… In other words, good luck finding a single category for this entourage of frequencies.

Each song a stand-alone hit, the entire 14 track album is a cohesive unit of bad ass music that will fall no where near short of rocking your undergarments off.

Pogo, the Ying to Azrock’s Yang, is a homeless orphan girl who happens to have the voice of an angel. Backed by Azrock’s pristine musicianship and song crafting skills, Pogo’s vocals breathe soul into the fire of Azrock’s compositions.

Great music is not all you can enjoy from this dynamic duo. With several chapters of a book written and an abundance of animations, illustrations, and artwork available on their website there is an entire world waiting for your curiosity to explore.

Their website stands as its own piece of art, so I encourage you to check it out and take notes.

As for me, I’m burning For You to a CD so I can rock it full blast in the car during my daily 100+ miles of commuting.
