Friday Project Ignite Their Sound with Energetic New Single “Capitola Coast”

by Leslie Sherman August 29, 2025 4:11 am Tagged With: 2025, indie rock, new music, New Single, Pop, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Rock has always thrived on youthful energy, and Friday Project are living proof.

At just 16 years of age, this Oakville based trio – Jack Galloway (guitar, vocals), Aidan Girardo (drums) and Noah King (bass) – are making music that’s fearless and refreshingly unpolished in all the right ways.

Their latest single, “Capitola Coast,” captures that ethos perfectly. Listen here:

“Capitola Coast” was born from a riff drummer Aidan came up with – unexpectedly from the guy behind the kit, but that’s the way Friday Project work. No rules, no limits.

Inspired in part by the California coastline and in part by the band’s love for Dominic Fike, the song blends their rock DNA with pop textures and even rap inspired verses. Rather than choose between Jack’s and Aidan’s lyrical ideas, the band fused them together – one starting, the other finishing – to create a flow that feels fresh and authentic.

Musically, the song bursts with energy. Noah’s bass drives it forwards with a hook that adds bounce and groove, pulling the song closer to pop without losing its edge. Geoff Hlibka’s production sharpens the track just enough, leaving some grit and ensuring that it still sounds like three friends jamming in a room. It’s that balance between polished production and raw energy, between youthful experimentation and serious songwriting, that makes “Capitola Coast” so compelling.

The lyrics touch on that bittersweet feeling of leaving behind places you love, whether it’s a beach, a camp, or a fleeting moment you can’t stay in forever.

That sense of longing paired with high voltage choruses creates a dynamic that is relatable to so many, but also distinctly teenage – it’s hopefuly, restless and alive.

With “Capitola Coast” Friday Project aren’t content to simply imitate their influeces. They are carving out their own lane, one riff, one hook and one jam session at a time. It’s loud, honest and creative and it’s just the beginning for Friday Project.

About Friday Project

Friday Project is a teenage rock band from Oakville, Ontario, made up of three lifelong friends – Jack Galloway (guitar, vocals), Aidan Girardo (drums) and Noah King (bass).

What started as late night jam sessions between friends has grown into a full fledged band that thrives on creative chaos. They write and rehearse in basements, record in living rooms and turn sparks of inspiration into songs that hit harder than bands twice their age.

Their DIY spirit is at the heart of their music.
