On The Funky Side of the Road with Pablo Embon

It’s always a good day when Pablo Embon releases a new album.

Funky Side of the Road is a collection of funk-infused alt-jazz compositions from the masterfully talented, Israeli based pianist, guitarist and composer. He also produced and mixed the album.

-Pablo has been featured on MTM before. Be sure to check out those features here and here.

Putting his knowledge of Andean folk music, tango, klezmer, Hebrew & Middle Eastern music into a blender with a very deep understanding of jazz, Funky Side of the Road is a funk-infused layer cake of sounds which are the result of Pablo’s composing, arranging, and recording between April and October of 2016.

From the slower more chilled Our Last Dance to the sombering piano of One Day Left to the funky, jammin’ grooves of Naughty Lucy, Pablo takes us on a musical carpet ride through complex arrangements, dancing harmonies, and untamed melodies guaranteed to move you.

The infusion of funk into Embon’s already awesome jazz sauce is a nice surprise and a sound that is warmly welcomed on this new record.

This is the perfect album for breaking up the monotony of holiday music without killing the mood but also introducing your family and friends to something new!

Funky Side of the Road will be available on December 19th. More details and links are available on Mr. Embon’s official website.
