Groove Back in Time with The Color Pink’s Latest Single “Little Animals”: A Psychedelic Pop Journey.

by Leslie Sherman December 6, 2023 2:54 am Tagged With: Folk, jazz fusion, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Get ready to groove and time-travel with The Color Pink’s latest single, “Little Animals” which is out now!

The psychedelic pop track is a retro party blast, filled with disco drums and nostalgic synthesizers that’ll make you want to break out those bell-bottoms and hit the dance floor.

Mikey Iansito, the genius behind The Color Pink, has transformed into a musical powerhouse, evolving from a singer-songwriter to a versatile multi-instrumentalist and producer. Considerably noteworthy given some of his initial struggles and hesitations to share his music.

“I had these dreamy chords kind of floating around in my head and I just happened to find a perfect patch on the keyboard to play them.”

The bass work on “Little Animals” is a standout, featuring infectious Fender bass lines and a touch of fretless bass for that extra groove.

What makes The Color Pink stand out isn’t just the music however; it’s the personal journey behind it.

Mikey’s childhood experiences, from opera performances to family gatherings, have left a mark on his sound, giving it a unique touch. Dive into their debut album, “Mazes,” and you’ll find a carefully crafted exploration of coming-of-age themes with a subversive edge.

The Color Pink’s musical palette is a buffet of genres, ranging from jazz and rock to video game music and opera. This eclectic mix gives their music a captivating and distinct sound. Mikey’s dedication to his craft is evident, from piano tinkering to mastering studio wizardry.

The band’s name pays homage to Mikey’s favorite color, Pink Floyd, and his contrarian nature. With a sound fusion of jazz, rock, doo-wop, ragtime, indigenous NOLA music, video game music, opera, American folk, and the Great American Songbook. Mikey’s songwriting features surrealistic lyrics, dreamy keys, funky drums, bluesy guitar riffs, and his silken falsetto vocals. Influences range from Pink Floyd and Grizzly Bear to Tame Impala, Steely Dan, The Beatles, and America.

Looking forward, The Color Pink’s future looks as bright as their tunes. Expect new music, potential collaborations, and multimedia live shows. With their unwavering commitment to musical creation, we’re in for an exciting ride.

Don’t miss out! “Little Animals” is available for streaming on Spotify now.
