Gummy Soul Presents Nashville Emcee Petty’s Mixtape Short But Sweet

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 28, 2013 7:37 am Tagged With: Nashville, United States

Short But Sweet by Petty

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

“Short But Sweet”, Petty’s fifth mixtape, uses beats by Brooklyn’s The Stuyvesants,to provide a 70’s funk sound to accompany his lyrical storytelling.

This East Nashville native turns it down a notch, becoming more introspective, while still retaining the bad boy appeal thematic in his previous records. The result of that marriage is a consistent and lyrically lush album,70’s inspired with a very modern Southern hip hop sound.

“Short But Sweet is a soulful introduction to the world, and from one of Nashville’s most prolific hip-hop artists.” – Robert Bragdon, www.BreakonaCloud.com

Petty’s past work has been described as,

“Unfiltered personality via an array of impressive styles” -The Smoking Section

“New levels of verbal dexterity that feel as vibrant as they do classic” -The Nashville Scene

Petty premiered on the Nashville music scene in 2011 with his first mixtape, “Roll Up and Write: My 90’s” followed by “My Old Shit” “GHGP” and his breakthrough mixtape “Petty Presley” in 2012, which The Smoking Section named one of the “21 Mixtapes We Enjoyed In 2012” and The Nashville Scene named it one of the top ten local albums of 2012. “Short But Sweet” marks Petty’s fifth mixtape with each one showcasing Petty’s wide range of style from club tracks to classic Boom Bap.
