Happy Now? Leigh Harrison Definitely Is

Leigh Harrison - Happy Now?

Happy Now? is the newest album from New Zealand based multi-talented music industry veteran Leigh Harrison.

Leigh experienced and has survived any singer’s worst nightmare. After investing time and energy into learning as much about singing as possible..breathing, posture, etc…Leigh had to undergo throat surgery.

The first time she tried to sing after surgery she found that she had lost the upper register and other areas of her range were rough. Not exactly the most exciting news for a musician and life long lover of all things music and recording.

If you missed our previous interview with Leigh, be sure to check it out. A really great read and probably one of our top interviews so far.

With the backstory behind us, the question mark following the album title Happy Now? takes on a whole new meaning and potency.

In our interview, Leigh details her eclectic range of songwriting styles and how this makes it difficult to put her into a genre box. Fortunately we love music that doesn’t fit into a box at MTM, so Leigh, you’re in great company!

Leigh brands herself as alternative folk. After listening through Happy Now?, I’d say alt-folk doesn’t do it justice.

This record is more like classic pop circa The British Invasion era with all things rock and roll but infused with delightful elements of jazz, funk and blues. Each song takes on a life and character all it’s own.

Happy Now? is full of memorable melodies, catchy hooks, and some really great songwriting. Leigh’s ability to get into your head, make your body move and leave you singing the choruses over and over is what makes great music…well, GREAT music!

The added warmth of this EP being recorded through a couple of (no longer in production) BOSS BR1600s gives the album even more classic comforting character.

It’s time to experience it for yourself. Grab your copy from Bandcamp.

Connect directly with Leigh on her website, Soundcloud or Twitter.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
