by Featured Guest November 3, 2014 11:29 am

From Alexandra Sinclair at Effective Immediately:

unnamed (1)Original blues and rock band, Hoochie Coochie Men, release their first single “Big Blue Tree”, off their soon to be released EP. The upcoming release was recorded with Grammy nominated engineer, Brendan Muldowney, at the Carriage House. Both lead vocalists, Zach Gold and Joey Tumulty, bring diverse influential sounds to the table while the band draws inspiration from the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Freddie King and Levon Helm.

Founded at Lafayette College, Hoochie Coochie Men started playing blues which eventually evolved into a sound incorporating a blend of blues, folk and rock. The band has recently gained steam after finishing a 40-show summer tour of the northeast, including a stop at Jazz Up July in Stamford CT, where they directly opened for the legendary B.B. King. The 8-time Grammy winning composer, Paul Winter has said their sound is a “fresh and inspiring take on American roots music”. They have also shared the stage with national acts such as Badfish, Pete Francis of Dispatch, Matt Costa and Toy Soldiers.

The band will be playing a special EP release show at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall onOctober 30th. They will be fully releasing their EP at The Bitter End on Saturday, January 24th at 9pm. Stay tuned for more from the Hoochie Coochie Men!
