6 Undercover-Angel of Refuge

In this interview spotlight, I chat with 6 Undercover about their latest project (Angel of Refuge), adapting during a worldwide lock down, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?

The Band is based out of Bangalore. On a lighter note, we all feel like we are from another planet just because of the amount of craziness amongst us. The music that we play resonates various emotions that we feel or have been through in life. That’s all we can describe as our style. We are not so much into genres and that’s for the listeners to decide. We just love playing heavy stuff.

How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?

When we started off as a band, it was about a bunch of guys wanting to have some fun by playing some cool riffs. We used to cover a lot of songs and we still do. But back then, it was about learning how to play something from a band that we idolize. When we started writing our own songs, that was a huge game changer for us. That itself was a motivation for the band. It gave us the freedom to express ourselves.

How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)? Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?

Angel of Refuge is our debut album. We feel that we have written a lot of realistic songs that connects various dots of human life and emotions. Album has various shades of our very own existence on this earth. We wanted to achieve that and we are very happy about it. It kind of shows our thought process at this stage of our lives.

Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?

Covid has been easily the most challenging time in our lives and same is for the band as well. We had just started the recording process and this unexpected storm hit us all. Lockdowns and restrictions put us behind our schedule by months. But we had this combined passion to not let this affect our drive, to put out the album. Debut album is a big moment in the lives of any artist and we did not want anything to derail us. We pushed each other and became the shoulder for one another. And here we are, after 18 longs months of production, we were able to bring the album out in April 2021.

What was the last song you listened to?

Stratego by Iron Maiden. We all are fans of Iron Maiden. They have played some part in our journey.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms?

Old school Vinyl is always magical.

Where is the best place to connect with you and follow your journey?

Instagram and Facebook. We are not big social media guys but then we have to follow the times that we live in. You can hit us on the below links
