Interview with Akardia – Lust

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 12, 2018 8:00 am Tagged With: Central America, Electro, industrial, Metal, Mexico, synth pop

Arkadia-Lust

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Akardia about their latest release, motivations, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

We are an original band from Mexico and the style that we currently use is Industrial Metal.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

What has led us to this path is the passion we have as musicians. Many times it has been for simple entertainment and other times it was for the great love we have for music, which is something that has united us and defined us as the band that we are currently.

What has motivated us to continue in this area is the power to make our songs known and the best thing is to know that our public enjoy it as much or even more than us.

How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

Well… answering the 1st question, there is a very noticeable change from what was our “Demo” in 2008 that was more inclined to EBM with touches of Darkwave style while our 2nd work, already on official album in 2013 and called “Antares”, was more inclined to Synth-Pop in its entirety.

Our most recent work called “Lust” and released in 2017 has a darker touch than usually. It is a new beginning for the band and takes up part of what our inspiration has been like in the beginnings of Akardia.

Regarding the 2nd question, we try to make a more powerful and more personal band sound. We are all very satisfied with the result that we achieved with “Lust”, our last album.

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

A great challenge that we have as an independent band is to be able to get more famous It is much more difficult since nowadays, with technology, many bands have been known through multiple platforms like YouTube, Spotify, etc… But in the same way that technology has opened the doors to new possibilities and reach more public.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

To contact us and listen to our music you can find us on several platforms like YouTube, Spotify, Facebook…

  • Spotify
  • Youtube
  • YouTube (AkardiaOfficial)
  • Facebook

Anything else before we sign off?

Of course, we want to thank you for the opportunity of this interview, for the support you are giving us. We are very grateful to answer these questions and hope to return soon.

Last thing and last information is that we’re cooperating now with a new French label called Phoenix Music and our band page on Phoenix Music website is at https://phoenix-music.biz/epk-akardia
