Propelled by her female empowerment narrative, poetic lyrics, psychedelic textures and enticing and expansive voice, Serbian/Swedish international recording artist, Alezzandra, reveals her new single, “Bad Girl in Heaven, Good Girl in Hell” and introduces her rich spectrum of emotion and eroticism.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Alezzandra about the new release, motivations, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

I was born & raised in Sweden but my family and I are from Serbia.

I love the darkness and pain behind music/art, for me those are the realest stories.. always. I would say my music is very dark and real. I am in love with deep heavy sounds and beautifully fatal lyrics.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?

I always knew I wanted to do music but couldn’t define myself on what kind of artist I was or wanted to become. When I moved to LA I automatically got pushed in to the mainstream scene. I figured out early that who I was as an artist didn’t really fit in to that world and I knew it wasn’t for me. The way I figured out, Ive always been more in to dark music/ trip hop, so I started writing and researching artist that was more underground. I learned so much about myself and knew instantly that I was on the right path.

My drive to create and share my deepest secrets with the world is what drives me and will never make me stop making art.

How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?

When I listen to my past work I can hear the growth and the process I was going through, I was suffering and going crazy because I didn’t know what I was doing. Till this day I am still growing and cant wait to hear myself in a year from now, but I know what I want now.

Do you face any challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? On the flip side, how has technology helped you (if it has)?

Being an independent artist has been a crazy ride. The digital world is definitely a game changer today. I have never been a huge social media person, I like to be secretive as an artist, excite my followers with limited information. But im inlove with the power it has, being able to share my music/art so easily is a blessing.

Where can we follow you online and hear more music?

You can follow me pretty much everywhere.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
