Interview with Alli Haber – Alive

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 27, 2019 9:40 pm Tagged With: Boston, indie pop, Massachusetts, Pop, R&B, singer, songwriter, United States

Alli Haber-Alive
Alive by Alli Haber is now available on your favorite DSP!

Alli Haber is a 16-year-old Pop Singer Songwriter from Boston, released her single Alive recently. Alive is her second single after working with Frankie Jonas of the Jonas Brothers for her debut, Too Young. Her leg on the The Boys of Summer Tour has resumed sharing stages with artists such as X Factor’s Drew Ryn, Zoe Laverne, Gigi Cesare and some of YouTube and TikTok’s biggest teen stars.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Alli about the new release, challenges, motivations and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

I’m from Boston, MA and I make pop/R&B music just trying to be genuine with my lyrics and stories and hope people can relate and connect to it.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

Ever since I can remember, music has been my passion and even though it can be overwhelming at times, what keeps me going is my love for the music and what I can create with it.

How is this new release different than your previous? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

I feel way more sure of the direction I’m headed music style-wise and I definitely feel more certain of who I am as an artist as I am putting out “Alive.” Not necessarily trying to accomplish anything specific, just hoping to share my music and vision. This song feels real and genuine to who I am as a person and artist right now in my life.

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

I think that technology is both beneficial and detrimental. One thing that is challenging is trying to show my most genuine self on the internet, because people don’t really know who you are by reading your Instagram captions. On the other side it has helped me grow and reach many people that I may not have been able to reach before.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

I definitely prefer MP3s just living in this time where digital music is always accessible and I can really listen to anything at anytime which is really cool.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Spotify is for sure my go to, I love to just go really deep into it and find cool new music that I have never heard which Is really easy to do on Spotify. Apple music is also really awesome.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

The best place to connect with me online is definitely my Instagram which is @allihabermusic, I’m always connecting with people and talking to them in my dms. My music is on all streaming platforms under my name, Alli Haber.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
