Interview with Audrie Powell – Levi Jeans

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 21, 2023 1:14 pm Tagged With: Country, country pop, Oregon, singer, songwriter, United States

Audrie Powell-Levi Jeans

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Audrie Powell about the latest music, AI’s presence in the music industry, dream collabs, and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

AI (aka Artificial Intelligence aka Chat GPT 4.0)… How is it changing the music world? What are your thoughts about this new trend?

I don’t really care about it because real music is from the soul and from the heart and you can see that when someone’s singing something that actually means something to them. Artificial intelligence can’t write something from my heart.

Can you choose a favorite song of all time? Or is this an impossible task? If yes, what’s the song? If no, what’s your current Top 3?

I definitely can not choose a top 3 of all time because my taste and vibe of each year/season/mood is so different but my current most listened to songs are resentment-partynextdoor, motorcycle-colter Wall, orange juice Noah Kahan.

What about this project makes you most proud? Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?

I think this project showcases my natural organic voice and not exactly range but you can hear my raw vocals and feel the emotion behind them.

What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?

The way music makes me feel. I go to music for everything almost like therapy. When I’m sad I write a song. When I’m happy sing. It’s something that truly makes me feel the most.

If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.

It sounds kind of cliche but I will always choose Justin Bieber because he was my first and biggest music inspiration. For the country, I would choose Morgan Wallen because I think our voices would be really cool together.

What was the last song you listened to? Favorite all-time bands/artists?

Feet off the ground by Brent Cobb. I feel like this is a hard question because my music taste is so broad. When I listen to R&B I love PARTYNEXTDOOR and Brent Faiyaz. When I’m listening to country or folk I listen to Brent Cobb, Colter Wall, and Noah Kahan, when I listen to older music I listen to Patsy Clone and Johnny Cash.

Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?

I am most active on TikTok and Instagram you can find me under Audrie Powell on all platforms.

I appreciate Your time. Want to say or plug any other projects before we part ways?

I have another song coming out at the beginning of the year called Willow Tree so stay tuned.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness.
