Interview with Awaiting Eli – Unfiltered

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman March 20, 2019 9:31 am Tagged With: alternative rock, hard rock, Nebraska, Rock

Awaiting Eli

Awaiting Eli serves its name well. Eli is a Hebrew word meaning “height.” To this band, Awaiting Eli’s name functions as a motivation to take their music to a greater height. They are always pushing themselves to consistently grow in their craft, go higher and higher, and never stop. Over the years, Awaiting Eli feature members that are pulled from a myriad of various influences including Alice in Chains, Sevendust, Chevelle, Def Leppard, Alter Bridge, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Aerosmith, Guns N Roses and many other greats.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Awaiting Eli to discuss their new music, challenges, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

We are from Omaha Nebraska.  I write primarily active rock music but also produce pop and soundscapes as well.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?

Music has always been in my family so I started at a young age. I have been in the professional world of music for about a decade now and continuing to get better at my craft is what keeps me going.  One goal on to the next. Bigger bigger bigger.

Do you face any challenges as an indie musician in a digital age?

It’s very tough. It cost money for everything but in return you see very little. Until the right buy on or person is working for you you get no where. The lost idea of a record deal has literally made it almost impossible. Payouts are terrible for streaming. Record deal days. Ahhh I wish they were still here. On the flip side, how has technology helped you (if it has)? The new release has a much more radio active rock sound and that’s exactly what I set out to achieve. More listeners more success.

Where can we follow you online and hear more music?

You can find us on all major social sites by searching Awaiting Eli.  Spotify, iTunes, iheart, etc. awaitingeli.com and hopefully in your cities soon

Anything else before we sign off?

We can’t wait to get back on the road and visit the cities and fans we’ve already made and many new ones to come. These new tunes kick ass and it’s gonna be memorable.
