Interview with BAZL

by Ben March 4, 2023 3:22 pm

Reminiscent feel of a Bruno Mars and Chris Brown, BAZL brings his own unique voice and style to the game. Surely will come into his own as the next Pop Sensation in the coming years.

In this interview, I chat with BAZL about his first release and the inspiration behind it, also 2023 and the future

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

What or Who was your biggest inspiration in creating “S.o.s”?

At the time I was writing and recording I was listening to a lot of The Weeknd’s music, and his song Save Your Tears. There were definitely parallels between the two songs in how they sound and feel but at the same time, there was still room for me to create something that is my sound so you aren’t thinking “oh he’s just copying The Weeknd” but more like “This is BAZL”.

Do you have any other songs in your safe at home, and if so, why did you feel “S.o.s” was the right choice for your debut single?

Yeah! I’m sitting on quite the vault at the moment, I wrote a lot of music before S.O.S. in high school onward but was never happy with the final product. Finding your sound is such a difficult process because the key to doing so is creating until it resonates with you and then you know! So I wanted to take my time, perfect my craft and wait until I had a song that reflected not only who I am as an artist but also what you can expect from me in the future.

With this being the single, I imagine we can be expecting an ep or album soon, is there a date set for your first project?

Absolutely! I have an eight-track album that I couldn’t be prouder to release and you can expect it to come in June-July, with some singles in between now and then!

If you could pick one artist right now that you could collab with, who would it be, and why?

Working with Joji would be such a fun and amazing experience! I love his lo-fi style of production and how his backing vocals become almost orchestral at times. I think our vocals and lyricism on a track together would create something really special and unique.

I appreciate you taking the time to do this interview, is there anything you want to promote to cap off this interview and where can people find you?

Well, I’d mentioned before that there would be some singles to look forward to before the release of my album and I’m super excited to say my single will be out in the next couple months, so be sure to follow my Instagram @bazlofficial and my Spotify profile BAZL for updates on that and future releases! Cheers IMD!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
