Interview with Blackwood – Release Me

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 1, 2024 3:47 pm Tagged With: hard rock, Nashville, Rock, Tennessee, United States

Blackwood

Blackwood is a hard rock band from Nashville, Tennessee that formed in 2021 as a studio project that evolved into the power of what is now known as Blackwood!

From the powerful vocal prowess of singer Chris O’Brien, sultry riffs from both Keith White and Chris O’Brien, thunderous low end provided by Steve Burgess and the slamming grooves laid down by David Dicks they made an explosive debut with their single “Inundated One”.   Now with the release of their first Album “Release Me“, Blackwood is ready to continue bringing their authoritative, powerful, and emotional music to the masses.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Blackwood about the latest music, AI, dream collabs, and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

AI (aka Artificial Intelligence aka Chat GPT 4.0)… How is it changing the music world? What are your thoughts about this new trend?

We think it’s really great for cooking recipes.

Can you choose a favorite song of all time? Or is this an impossible task? If yes, what’s the song? If no, what’s your current Top 3?

Impossible! Top 3 could be Aqua Regia by Sleep Token, Unchained by Van Halen and Believe by Cher.

What about this project makes you most proud? Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?

The chemistry we have with each other is something we are very proud of, and our goal is always expanding our global reach.

What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?

Knowing there are fans out there that aren’t done listening to Blackwood!

If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.

King Gizzard & and the Lizard Wizard, under appreciated and wildly inspirational.

Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?
