Interview with Bobby Black 615 – Black Business

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 10, 2020 9:32 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, Nashville, rap, Tennessee, United States

Bobby Black-Black Business

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Nashville based Hip Hop artist Bobby Black about the latest music, challenges, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

My name is Bobby Black 615 I am from Nashville TN and I am a hip hop artists slash music publisher

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

I have been in love with music all of my life especially the writing aspect my motivation are to make something the world can enjoy and relate to

How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

My latest release Black Business available on all streaming platforms.. I would consider different from my previous project because of the times we are living in with the pandemic and protesting going on ya know.. it’s a state of emergency that’s why I chose to release the project on 9/11

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

One challenge with the digital music age is making sure you don’t get scammed.. lol..no people don’t get to see you in person too much.. and when I sold my music on the streets people can see you and feel out who you are.. the upside you don’t have to deal with to many people and you can be at more than one place at a time if you have the resources to invest or make a push on the internet.. find placement or get put on the shelf pretty much

What was the last song you listened to?

Lol… The Pot by Tool.. one of my favorite bands

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

All 3…. but most likely MP3s

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

I prefer Spotify just because of access..

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

ReverbNation.. Spotify..Apple Music Tidal.. just about all streaming platforms just put in Bobby Black 615 I’m pretty sure I will pop up

Anything else before we sign off?

Shouts Out to Chmar..D.E..Bossi Brown..Big Cade..Tre80…Fiyah..DreOnTheTrackBoi Mystery Beat W.E in The Hood.. Wicked East..TooflessGang..Scam Fam..QgotthemSlaps.. and my fam and supporters love y’all

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
