Interview with Cloud Diameter

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 16, 2019 11:01 am Tagged With: ambient, Electronic, Experimental, lo-fi

Cloud Diameter

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Cloud Diameter about the new project, challenges, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below

Where are you from and what style of music do you create?

The North of England. A small town called Hebden Bridge. I fall under the experimental umbrella I guess.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

Someone I once knew let me in on a secret

How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

This is my debut release. Trying to move away from form but I’m not there yet. There’s liberation in an empty page

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you ?

Recording on trains and in the mountains is easier now.

What was the last song you listened to?

Side B : Concert At Phil Niblock’s Loft from Suzanne Ciani Buchla Concerts 1975

I saw her in a church in York not so long ago.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

As long as I’m getting the art I’m not precious. I like tape wow.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Bandcamp’s good.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

Bandcamp

Spotify

Twitter

Anything else before we sign off?

Sorry if I came across a bit short. I’m kinda out of my comfort zone.

Thanks.

P.S. Cassettes coming soon.
