Interview with E-Wise (aka Mr. Moonwalker)

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 10, 2020 10:17 am Tagged With: Chattanooga, Hip Hop, rap, Tennessee, United States

E-Wise-Talk About

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Chattanooga based Hip Hop artist E-Wise about the latest music, technology, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

From Chattanooga, TN. I create southern style hip hop

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

I have always had a vision of being a rap artist but have just recently been able to perfect my craft.  I started  to work with my friend/mentor and producer of Southern Trap Records and was able to finally record and write on a regular basis .

How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

This release is different from my previous because I feel like I finally come into my own specific style more. It is very personal about the struggles I face with not having hometown support and so many trolls and naysayers while still believing in myself and my music.

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this over saturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

Two challenges I face in this over saturated market is getting my music heard and adding NEW fan base.  The area I am in does not have many opportunities for open mic or performing opportunities.  Technology has helped tremendously with marketing and promoting my music on different platforms like Reverb nation, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, google, spotify, pandora, amazon music, deezer and apple music.  Luckily my artist name helps me pop up in all kinds of search threads.

What was the last song you listened to?

Mac Miller-Jet fuel

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

MP3

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

I prefer to listen on Pandora and Sirius Xm radio for replay ability and new music content . I prefer Spotify for artists for promoting my music

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

Reverb Nation, Google Play, Amazon Music, YouTube   and Instagram is where I always put snippets of in process projects.

Anything else before we sign off?

My current 3 released singles ‘White Bottle’, ‘Juiced Up’ and ‘Talk About’ are available on all platforms and my Debut EP Album ‘Story to be told’ is set to be released before the end of 2020.
