Jon Steele-Composition by Jon Steele Vol 2

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Jon Steele about his latest music, challenges, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Listen to Jon Steele on Spotify.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create?

I currently live in Hermitage Pennsylvania. I create lyrics for rock, pop and country songs. I also help produce music and play the drums.

What led you down this path of Music, and what motivates you to keep going?

I was inspired by classic rock music growing up , which highly contributed to me paying the drums and writing lyrics. I noticed I have a passion and gift to writing and playing and that motivates me to write more. I love to write about my life experiences into lyrics and songs.

How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

Well, I have only had two releases and the albums are both educational, motivational and inspirational to my audiences. I was trying to make an entrance into a possible songwriting career and entertain the world with my gifts.

Name one or two challenges you face as an Indie Musician in this oversaturated digital music age? How has technology helped you?

I believe selling physical cd copies will now be extremely hard because of technology. Technology has helped tremendously through collaborating with musicians in your own home through computer and exposure to radio and internet without having to drive to a station or studio. Also, when people want to buy a song through mp3, sales are quicker. A negative side to this is people will only buy the songs they like and don’t have to buy a whole album.

What was the last song you listened to?

Crossing Paths

Which do you prefer? Cds? Vinlys? Mp3s?

Cds and Mp3s

How about this one. Do you prefer Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp or something else?

I don’t really have a specific preference. I use them all.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover music?
