Interview with L Y S – Step By Step

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 14, 2022 8:09 pm Tagged With: California, Los Angeles, Pop, singer, songwriter, United States

L Y S

Twin pop duo L Y S has released their latest single, “Step by Step.” The track serves as an autumn motivation, featuring fierce synths, a fast beat, and sultry vocals. L Y S have created the perfect song for a good workout, building confidence, overcoming a setback, and getting back on your feet.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with L Y S about the latest drop, motivations, their writing process and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

What’s something you’d like readers to know about your latest project?

Step By Step is an upbeat song that will put you in a good mood, a motivation anthem perfect for a morning or running playlist! It’s about staying focus on your goal and not giving up- and it’s available on every music platform, go check it out! We hope you’ll love listening to it as much as we loved writting it! ♡

How does “Step By Step” compare with your other release(s)? Was there anything specific you were trying to accomplish?

We wrote this song about the bad experiences we encountered since we started making music. We met some untrustful people and felt down many times, but we always got up and kept on working and fighting for our dreams. This song was like therapy, a way for us to let it all out and have something positive coming out of these hard times.

What motivates you to create music?

Music has always been more than just a passion for us- it’s our life mission. It is our way to express ourselves, to heal, to be happy. Making music bring us hope, it makes us feel strong and confident.

What is your writing process like as a duo?

Usually Marine writes, and Lorène comes up with melodies. Sometimes one has an idea and if the other one likes it, we’ll keep working on it. We also work with different producers who need topliners- they would send us tracks and when one inspires us, we’ll write on it.

If you guys could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why?

There are so many artists we would love to collaborate with!

If we have to choose one… For Lorène, it would be the Jonas Brothers. For Marine, it would be Miley Cyrus. For both of us, the reason is sentimental: we grew up listening to their music, we learned English translating their songs… we are huge fans of them. A collaboration with them would just be a dream coming true.

Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?

We have an Instagram @lysmusic_off and we also started posting more on tiktok @lys_music

Come say hi!

I really appreciate Your time. Anything else before we sign off?

Go check our music out ! It would mean the world to us ♡

Xoxo

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
