Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

I am from New York/ New Jersey but I live in California right now. I make melody driven pop, r&b music that often incorporates other styles and versatile lyricism. My upcoming album has hints of hip hop, reggaeton, and soul, with pop and r&b at the forefront.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

My family definitely played a big part in why I’m doing music. They always encouraged me to do everything I put my mind to but naturally I gravitated towards music the most. Everyone in my family does music and is in this industry. It was a foundation for us and just something we all absolutely loved. I am happiest when I am creating and that’s why I don’t stop.

Do you ever feel like you are living in your fathers shadow? Or competing with your family?

No, not at all. I feel like I’m living in his light and sharing that and this experience with my whole family. I hear a lot of stories like this especially with twins and finding or being your own person but I feel like we all do something different in similar ways. We are really encouraging and help each other do whatever anyone wants to do. I feel like they helped me find ‘ my own person’ instead of me feeling like I have to do something to be different from them.

What made you choose ‘Stuck’ as the first single off your new album?

I was originally deciding between two other songs off the album. I wrote and recorded ‘Stuck’ one day after deciding I wanted to write a song about the moon and the stars. Since the pandemic started I began to feel uneasy about releasing a party or happy song, although we need to keep our spirits up, it just felt wrong. I continued to move forward with those songs when producer, Myke Groov had sent me ‘Stuck’ with the completed track and I just completely changed my mind then and there. I fell in love with it and decided to move forward with “Stuck” being the first single. Ironically the other day I realized, the first song I ever wrote at around the age of 10 was called ‘Stuck in a World’. I feel like my writing and progress has almost become full circle.

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this over saturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

One challenge I face is just making sure I do everything I need to and making all the proper steps. I’m a bit of an analytical person and although I have a really awesome team, overseeing every detail of your project gets overwhelming at times. I’m grateful for today’s resources, my team, family and friends and am definitely enjoying watching my vision unfold.

What was the last song you listened to?

The last song I listened to was one of mine but one by another artist I just listened to was “Experience” by Victoria Monét. Her new EP slaps.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

I’d have to say Mp3s for the convenience but I love how intimate vinyls feel.
