Interview with The Midnight Revival – Feels So Good

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 9, 2023 10:35 am Tagged With: Americana, country rock, Nashville, Rock, southern rock, Tennessee, United States

The Midnight Revival

In this interview spotlight, I chat with The Midnight Revival about their latest release, AI in music, dream collabs, and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

AI (aka Artificial Intelligence aka Chat GPT 4.0)… How is it changing the music world? What are your thoughts about this new trend?

What a time to be alive! There are so many cool things happening with technology and its integration into music and art in general. Sure, there are also a lot of growing pains, but the future is coming whether we want it or not so we might as well embrace it.

That imperfect human element is what people are drawn to in art. And that is something that we believe can ever be replicated by AI. Imperfection is what makes art, imperfection is what makes us human.

Can you choose a favorite song of all time? Or is this an impossible task? If yes, what’s the song? If no, what’s your current Top 3?

This is next to impossible, because we gravitate towards different sounds depending on what we’re working on at that time. But, some of our favorite songwriters are Eagles, Tom Petty and Billy Joel.

What about this project makes you most proud? Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?

We are so proud of everything about it. We feel like the songwriting is ever evolving and we are so blessed to be able collaborate with so many talented folks on this. Our goal was just that. To make something we are proud of and also enjoy.

What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?

Our songs are inspired by life and all of its peaks and valleys. What keeps us going is the connection we feel when we get to share our experiences with others.

If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.

There’s just too many to list! Collaboration is something that we love to do. When people come together to share experiences and viewpoints through music it always leads to some interesting places that you probably wouldn’t have gotten to alone.

What was the last song you listened to? Favorite all-time bands/artists?

“Take it to the Limit”, Eagles
Favorite artists would be similar to artists listed above…..Eagles, Stones, Neil Young, Tom Petty…

Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?

We have been trying to stay active and available on our socials these days..
Drop us a line on Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram…….just look for
The Midnight Revival. Don’t be shy!

I appreciate Your time. Want to say or plug any other projects before we part ways?

Our 1st single “Feels So Good” is available as of November 3rd on all of your favorite platforms. Please give us a listen and stay tuned for more future releases from us. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we did in creating them!
