Interview with Mike Milan Dedic – Escape

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 12, 2017 8:56 am Tagged With: guitarist, Instrumental, progressive rock, Rock

Mike Milan Dedic-Escape

In this interview spotlight, we chat with Mike Dedic about his new project, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and the video for Escape below.

How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?

MMD: My new relaease is the song ‘Escape’. Unlike my previous self-titled EP that was all done by me (released in 2014), I brought in some fantastic musicians to help me with this one. Many thanks go out to them!

There is definately a different vibe here and the dynamics of having an actual drummer as opposed to a drum machine is quite evident. Don’t get me wrong, I like drum machines very much, but they can’t replace a great drummer behind the kit! I also enjoyed having the contribution of keyboards on this one. It just added a different dimension to the song!

We also made a video for the song that was filmed in a 360 Virtual Reality style.

I have to thank Robert Metcalfe on this one. He suggested it and with his countless hours of effort and creativity, came up with this for us!! Thanks Again Rob!!!!

Do you face challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? How has technology helped you (assuming it helps)?

MMD: Well it’s certainly a different world out there now! The Guitar Instrumental Genre is a very small one at best, compared to other forms of music.

Social media allows me to get my music out there to people that I would never potentially be able to perform for. I think that is great! I’ve met a lot of great people from all over the world!

Where can we connect with you online and discover more music?

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
