Vancouver Island-based electronic duo Norasea unveil their latest sonic offering with Forager – a lush, immersive EP inspired by the natural world and the emotional power of sound. Melding chilled-out atmospheres with intricate sound design, Forager showcases Norasea‘s evolution as artists and storytellers, blending deep bass, organic textures, and evocative vocals into something beautifully transportive.
“This EP reflects our relationship with the natural world and its influence on our creative process,” Norasea elaborates. “We’ve been falling more and more in love with sound design and telling a story with each track.”
The EP’s focus track, “Control,” captures that storytelling instinct in full. Born from late nights at Shambhala’s legendary Grove stage, the track pulses with moody serenity, evoking sunsets, river dancing, and the feeling of being lost – and found – in the music. “It’s about allowing the experience to take control,” explains the duo. “Letting go and feeling truly present in that moment.”
Created entirely remotely between Vancouver and Calgary, “Control” marks a creative milestone for the duo, completed without ever sharing a studio.
What can you share with readers about your new project?
We’re finding our place in underground electronic music culture and this project really represents where our music is currently headed. We’ve been heavily influenced by mother nature and outdoor experiences helping shape our artistry into organic-focused bass music.
How does this release compare with your other projects you had in the Past?
This release has helped us realize who we wanted to be as musicians and helped us develop a clear direction for our sound. We were still trying to figure out what genre we were during our last releases, but this project came organically, naturally and felt right the entire process.
What about this single makes you most proud?
Our single, “Control” is a huge step towards making forward-thinking bass music involving genuine and introspective lyricism. We were able to blend lush, layered vocals with rolling basslines consistent with other deep rhythm-focused music. We feel like we’re helping to clear space for more music like this to be written, accepted and celebrated.
Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?
We wanted to get our music out there, share a bit of ourselves with our music and give our audience something fresh to listen to. You don’t have to be partying to listen to our music. It’s for people who love bass music but also want to be transported into a contemplative space.
What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?
We love writing and making music. It’s our artistic outlet. We would keep doing it if it never made us a dollar in our life, but knowing that we can connect and share experiences with our listeners absolutely gives us a boost. It’s important that we’re making the music that we want to make, and being able to connect with others through our art is a bonus.
If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.
One of our biggest influences that we’ve connected on has been the producer and dj Charlesthefirst. He opened the space for us to fall in love with melodic yet heavy and organic, boundary-pushing bass music and it would be incredible to collaborate with him if he were alive today. There are artists carrying on his legacy (shoutout the Lab Group) so he has not been forgotten within the underground electronic music scene.
What was the last song you listened to? Favorite all-time bands/artists?
The last song we listened to was “HD” by Lab Group, Player Dave and JAWNZA. Some of our favourite artists are Charlesthefirst, Chmura, Mystic State and Atyya. Our favourite bands include Pink Floyd, Queen and Audioslave.
Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?

I really appreciate your time. Is there anything you’d like to share before we sign off?
We appreciate you giving us the time and space to share our position in the niche we’ve found ourselves in within the underground electronic music scene. We believe this music has culture-shaping power which trickles down into popular music and we want to help enrich the landscape by bringing a unique flavour of bass music.
