Interview with Parmy Dhillon – Burn

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 1, 2017 9:34 am Tagged With: Acoustic, Alternative, Australia, Rock

Parmy Dhillon

In this interview spotlight, we chat with Parmy Dhillon about influences, the latest project, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and streams below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

I’m from Melbourne, Australia and I love mixing all types of genres into my songs but a common theme would Alternative Acoustic Rock

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?

A way to express myself, I grew up in a very negative environment and my home life wasnt the best of situations, I’d keep so many feelings and thoughts inside and bottled up that I’d become self destructive and angry and I would be so hard on myself. Once I started writing, it was a great release, just made me feel good, gave me some great feelings and a buzz that I’d never felt before. Just being creative is so good for me, it makes me feel like I’m worth something

How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?

When we started brainstorming ideas for the new video, I wanted to have more of a live feel, the song has alot of energy. In previous videos I’ve gone for a full storyline with not much playing so I wanted to try and incorporate both the live feel and a movie feel, so we all took a trip to a nearby small town on a farm, we shot at night, it was freezing cold but we got some great shots, couldn’t be happier

Do you face challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? How has technology helped you (assuming it helps)?

I think the only challenges would be saturation, everyone is doing a song, a video or something online but the pro’s far outweigh the cons, we just have to make sure what we are doing stands out so if anything it makes you work alot harder, but I like that

Where can we connect with you online and discover more music?

Facebook, instagram, spotify. Just google me ?

Anything else before we sign off?

We just finished filming the 4th single/video off my Ep, the plan is to do every song as a video so keep an eye out for that coming out soon

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness.
