Interview with Salvation Jayne

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 5, 2024 2:23 pm Tagged With: alternative rock, indie rock, power pop, punk rock, Rock, United Kingdom

Salvation Jayne

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Salvation Jayne about the latest music, dream collabs, artificial intelligence, and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

AI (aka Artificial Intelligence aka Chat GPT 4.0)… How is it changing the music world? What are your thoughts about this new trend?

Tor: Well, it has yet to affect us! I think it’s fascinating and scary. We are going into the unknown with all the technology available to us. It has yet to replicate humans but I doubt it will be far away. I think that people will still make music, and still create art whether AI is up there to compete with us or not.

Can you choose a favorite song of all time? Or is this an impossible task? If yes, what’s the song? If no, what’s your current Top 3?

Oh, difficult! An almost impossible task. It must change every week. So right now I’ll say my top 3 songs are:

Blink 182 – Rock Show

Avril Lavigne – Complicated

Tupac – Changes.

Purely based on what they meant to me at the time growing up!

What about this project makes you most proud? Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?

I think for me we were starting to make the music I’ve always envisioned and having Estelle come into the band definitely was the big step up to get to that. She has such a dynamic voice and can really tough it up give the best rock sounding vocals and screams, as well as all the pretty stuff. We are so lucky to have her!

What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?

The enjoyment we get from making something we love is second to none. When we share it with people who tell us they love the songs and are smiling and rocking out at gigs. These are the moments that make life better and I don’t think any of us will ever stop that itch and when we all come together it just clicks and I think we write great songs.

If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.

I think I’d love a collaboration with Blink 182! And I think we’d smash a collab with Snayx as well! Check them out if you haven’t (snayx_uk on Instagram!)

What was the last song you listened to?

The last song I put into my 2023 playlist was the new Taking Back Sunday tune ‘S’old’

Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?

Instagram @salvationjayne!

I appreciate Your time. Want to say or plug any other projects before we part ways?

We’ve got some gigs coming up on the year! We are at the Dover Booking Hall on September 30th, October 8th at Hope & Anchor for an all-dayer. Sheffield at Sidney & Matilda on 16th Novand Manchester Retro Bar Nov 17th!’
