Interview with The Buckhead Boyz – Shout It To The World

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 25, 2022 10:54 pm Tagged With: Atlanta, Georgia, Pop, Rock, United States

The Buckhead Boyz

In this interview spotlight, I chat with The Buckhead Boyz about the new music, technology, surviving the pandemic and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?

The BUCKHEAD BOYZ are part of the fabric of the new Atlanta music scene whose music is best described as lifting the ever-elusive perfect blend of pop/rock with soulful vocals that so many before attempted and not achieved. The BUCKHEAD BOYZ are musically and artistically reflective of the current times and the future where genres and lines of kinds are crossed, blurred, and in some cases even erased.

How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?

The BUCKHEAD BOYZ were inspired by the ‘greats’ of the likes of Jimmy, Michael, Prince, KISS, and Journey whose music not only was at the highest level but also accompanied with the highest level of “LIVE” performance as well, SHOWMAN!

How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)?

The latest project “SHOUT IT TO THE WORLD” is that recorded perfect blend that is all things – THE BUCKHEAD BOYZ. Previously releases leaned more toward the natural R&B side of music. This project has taken The BUCKHEAD BOYZ “exactly where they want to be” …to blaze their path in the music industry.

Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?

The BUCKHEAD BOYZ from the onset were committed to doing it their own way and not bending to music trends or the latest music cadences. In every aspect from song production to show performance.

Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented times? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?

During the most recent challenging social times under the pandemic, The BUCKHEAD BOYZ seized the opportunity to fine tune direction, and record songs that were exactly in line with our creative goals and focus on social media engineering and marketing.

What was the last song you listened to?

“Faithfully” by Journey. The rock influence and soulful vocals are that perfect blend that inspires us.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms?  WHY?

Streaming is the preferred platform. Your music can be played and shared at any given time. Streaming crosses borders and lands which increases the possibility to perform shows in places other than those which are within proximity.

Where is the best place to connect with you and follow your journey?

YouTube Channel – BUCKHEAD BOYZ to hear, see, and share all our music.

I really appreciate Your time. Anything else you wish to add before we sign off?

The BUCKHEAD BOYZ bring back the LIVE experience with production and showmanship at its core. Songs that are effortlessly cleverly written and produced that will be at the top of the mainstream and alternative charts all at the same time.

Thank you for your time, for all you do by discovering and helping others learn about and hear new artists. Importantly, thank you for enabling us to “Shout it to the World”!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
